Make sure you are getting what you deserve from your local schools. Many states have requirements about how much a local district must spend on each student in the charter school. Getting this money may not be automatic, however. Read the regulations and find out what you are entitled to get.
Push the state school board to grant you more money. In some states, the state's educational oversight board has the authority to give more money to charter schools. Check with your state.
Look for grants. Many educational companies are promoting the charter school movement because of the success many have had with their students. These companies offer grants of all sizes to help charter schools. Look for these grants and apply for as many as possible.
Seek out local sponsorships. Even with the local school district's funding, you likely will not have enough money to do everything. Local sponsorships are a great way to get funding for a charter school. Give companies the chance to donate--with some reciprocal advertising--their products or money.
Apply for national sponsorships. Many larger corporations give money or supplies to off-beat educational ideas. Look into programs for free computers, desks and other supplies for your charter school.
