Call your local Catholic school office or diocese. According to the National Catholic Education Association, more than two million students attend about 7,000 Catholic schools in the United States, with an average tuition of $3,673. Unfortunately, no national scholarship is available to students who attend Catholic schools; typically, your local private and parochial schools can offer suggestions for securing aid or scholarships to pay for tuition.
Contact the Children’s Scholarship Fund (CSF). The CSF is an organization that offers tuition assistance to families in need. The organization provides funding to students in kindergarten through eighth grade who wish to attend nonpublic schools. Visit scholarshipfund.org, and click on the interactive map to learn whether your state offers tuition assistance through this program. Currently, CSF is providing scholarships to children in 21 states.
Search online at scholarships.com, which provides free access to information about paying for many different types of schooling, including Catholic schools. Be aware, however, that this information is primarily focused on post-secondary tuition -- that is, Catholic colleges and universities.
Harness the power of your computer via Internet searches. Begin by searching for “Catholic school scholarships in (insert your state here).” Also, try searching the phrase “(State name) School Choice.” Most states have websites dedicated solely to parents who are researching alternatives to public schools for their children. If you don’t have home access to a computer, visit your local library; most provide free computer access.
