Gifts for Teacher Assistants

Most parents remember their children's teachers at holiday time or the end of the school year and acknowledge them with a small gift. The teacher assistant also works with your children throughout the school year, while functioning more in the background. A gift for the holidays or school year end is a small way to acknowledge her role in the development of your child.
  1. Pamper Package

    • After running around after the little ones all year, your child's teacher assistant is probably ready for some downtime. The summer months are her time to recharge and reenergize for the next school year. Gifts that encourage her to take time for herself will be enjoyed and appreciated. A gift certificate for a massage, a pedicure or another spa service will let her know you appreciate all she's done and that she deserves some time for herself.

    Homemade Goodies

    • If you have a talent for baking, help your child bake a dozen cookies for his teacher assistant. After the cookies have baked and cooled, help your child wrap them in a nice dish and decorate with a ribbon. The teacher assistant may have spent the year preparing snacks for your child's class. This is her turn to receive a snack. Your child will enjoy baking the cookies and will take pride in presenting them to his teacher assistant.

    Special Letter

    • Throughout the year, have your child keep a journal of fun things that happen at school and special memories with her class. At the end of the school year, you and your child can look back through the journal. Make a list of the memories that involve her teacher assistant. Using this list, your child can write a letter to the teacher assistant. She should write about the special moments with her teacher assistant that she remembered in her journal. Her teacher assistant may have forgotten some of these events and will be touched that the child remembered them.
