Cut the cardboard smaller than the depth of the tuna can. Roll the cardboard in a tight coil and fit the coil so it is snug in the can.
Place a pot holding a few inches of water over high heat on the stove.
Cut the paraffin wax into small chunks and put them in the coffee can.
Set the coffee can in the hot water and turn the heat to low. Stir the wax chunks till they are melted. Remove the pot from the heat.
Pick up the hot coffee can with pot holders. Pour the melted wax into the tuna can until the cardboard is covered with the wax. Insert the birthday candle into the center of the cardboard coil and let the wax harden. This smaller can is called a "buddy burner."
The coffee can maybe be reused to melt wax when making more than one stove.
Put on the work gloves. On the open side of the #10 can, make a 3-inch by 3-inch flap using the tin snips. Bend the flap up but don't cut it off. This is a ventilation flap for your stove.
Punch two holes on the sealed side of the can opposite the ventilation opening using the punch can opener.
Place the open end on dirt, gravel, sand or a large flat rock. Make sure flammable objects are not adjacent to the stove.
Light the birthday candle in the buddy burner and carefully slip the burner through the ventilation opening of the larger can.
Place the sheet of aluminum foil on top of the stove. It is now ready for use.
