The Army and Navy Academy in Carlsbad is located about 470 miles south of Sacarmento and just 60 miles from St. Catherine's Academy. It's considered a college preparatory boarding school that also offers Advanced Placement (AP) classes. The student to teacher ratio is 10 to 1 and the academy offers 11 varsity sports and a variety of additional extracurricular activities. The Army and Navy Academy accepts students from around the world and currently educates more than 300 cadets. The Academy is an all-male facility that is open to students from the seventh grade through 12th grade. St. Catherine's is an all-boys, kindergarten through eighth grade Catholic school in the military tradition. St. Catherine's provides athletic opportunities, extracurricular activities and experiences in music as well as fine arts. A unique feature that St. Catherine's offers is its International and English as a Second Language (ESL) programs.
