Healthy Eating Ideas for Children

Getting your kids to eat right is one of parenthood's most challenging endeavors. Most children want to eat sugar and candy, drink soda and play video games. This, of course, is not a recipe for a healthy child. Luckily, you can find many meal options for your kids that are both tasty and nutritious.
  1. Omelets for Breakfast

    • Eggs don't have to be fried blobs. Mixing in healthy veggies with small amounts of cheese can turn a boring egg into a tasty and healthy meal. Use onions, peppers, tomatoes, and potatoes to make a simple omelet. When using cheeses, make sure to use only a small amount. A pinch of cheese should be enough for a two-egg omelet. It is enough to give the omelet flavor without adding too much fat.

    Snacks

    • Fruits are great snacks because they contain a small amount of natural sugar, but not enough to cause weight problems. Fruits are also packed with flavor and other useful minerals that will keep your children healthy. For a snack, make a fruit plate with several types of fruit. This will ensure that your child has plenty of options and will find something that he will like.

    Pita Pocket

    • Pita is a low-fat bread that can be made into pocket sandwiches using simple ingredients. Roast some white-meat chicken and dice it into squares. Insert it into the pocket, and add two pinches of cheese. Then dice some raw carrots and onions and put them on top. This will make a tasty and healthy sandwich that your child will enjoy. You can mix and match with many kinds of meat and veggies to fit your child's taste.

    Salad Bar

    • Salad bars are not just for restaurants. You can construct your own salad bar at home so that your child can pick what she wants to put on the salad. Provide as many kinds of veggies as possible so that your child will find want she wants. However, make sure to regulate the amount of dressing that is used.
