How to Support Drug Testing in Schools

School children are particularly vulnerable to drugs. Being too young to fully understand the consequences of using drugs, some children fall victim to drug dealers. When at an early stage, drug addiction can be cured with a much greater success rate, than when drug addiction has taken hold. Accordingly, some people believe that drug testing should be introduced in schools.

Instructions

    • 1

Get in touch with like-minded people. You can start a group on a social network, such as Facebook or MySpace, to build support for the adoption of mandatory drug testing in schools. Ask members to invite as many of their friends as possible.

    • 2

Write a petition to the local school board, asking to introduce drug testing in schools. For the letter to carry weight, gather as many signatures supporting the letter as possible. You can gather signatures either in an electronic form, on social networks, or through door-to-door canvassing.

    • 3

Ask the principals of local schools to give school athletes and student council leaders a chance to voluntarily test for drugs, thus creating peer pressure on others to do the same. This will also raise the awareness.

    • 4

Seek the support of parents. If a significant number of parents will support drug testing, this will put pressure on the authorities to introduce it in the schools. To get parental support, host events and meetings dedicated to the problem. Also, hand out leaflets near schools, asking parents to support your cause.
