Coin Counting Games

Help your little ones learn coin counting skills with online coin counting games. There are a variety of different change making and coin counting games available online to help teach and refine this important life skill. With a variety of skill levels and game types available, you can pick the game that will best serve your student.
  1. Learn Money

    • Learn Money is a coin counting browser game. You have an unorganized pile of coins in all denominations, and you are presented with a toy that you want to buy and its price. You then drag the coins from your pile into a box until you have the exact price of your toy. You click "Buy" and if you are correct, you get the toy. If you were short or over, the shopkeeper is kind enough to tell you.

    Cents of Color

    • The US Mint has a kids section with interesting facts and information about our currency. Choose any of the 50 states and an uncolored image of that state quarter shows up. Kids then paint the coin to their liking. This game provides an excellent opportunity to discuss the consistency of denomination value, despite image changes. Once they understand that a quarter is a quarter, regardless of what picture is on it, they will be better equipped to count coins.

    Counting Money

    • The Counting Money game from Harcourt school publishers is a free web based game that displays the images of coins on the screen. Players then count the money and enter the amount they counted into a text box. If they are correct, they hear a chime and can move on to another drill. If they are wrong, it says if they were higher or lower, and they must try again. It is a very simple, easy to use coin counting game.

    Cash Out

    • In Cash Out, you are the cashier at a store. Different animals approach you wanting to make purchase. They provide you with dollars, and you must provide exact change. You can change the difficulty so that the amount of change needed is displayed or is hidden. Players then click images of coins until they come up with the right change. If you make the wrong change, the animals will let you know how much you were over or under.
