How to Get School Delays on Text

School delays are generally reported to the public through local news stations. These stations are in touch with school systems directly during times where severe weather is possible, likely or in progress, and the school systems keeps the news stations up to date on school cancellations and delays. If you would like to be one of the first people to know if your school has been delayed, you can often sign up to get this information sent to your cell phone via text. The service is offered by some local television stations.

  Visit the local news station's website. This is generally how you sign up for text alerts for school delays. When you call, you can get specific instructions for navigating the site, or you can search "school cancellation and delays" on the site to find it.

  Enter your cell phone number into the website form. You'll also need to enter your mobile carrier and email and create a password for many sites.
