How to Request Approved Excused Absences for Physical Fitness Activities

Physical fitness activities that are required in your school or in your company can generally be excused if you have doctor's permission. If you have an injury or a condition that would make fitness activities a health risk, then your doctor can write you a note to excuse you from physical activities. Sicknesses can also sometimes be a reason to refrain from physical activity, so a visit to the doctor will help to show your teacher or employer that you cannot participate while you are ill.

Instructions

    • 1

Visit your physician if you have a reason for requesting an approved excused absence from physical fitness activities at school or at work.

    • 2

Inform your physician of the condition you have that permits you to receive an excused absence. You may be temporarily injured or sick, or you may have an existing and prolonged condition or disease that would make physical fitness activities a health risk.

    • 3

Ask your doctor to write a certified note with his signature to indicate what is wrong with your health that should excuse you from the physical activities. Your request to the doctor could be worded in this way: "Dr. Smith, if you think that this condition puts my health at risk by engaging in physical activities, can you please write me a signed and certified note to approve my absence from physical activities at school? Thank you."
