Disney Institute Programs for Kids

Walt Disney had a lifelong reputation as a learner, inventor and innovator, from the multi-plane camera to audio-animatronics. So although most kids would see a trip to Disney World or Disneyland as an escape from school, it can also fittingly be part of the ultimate field trip. The Disney Youth Education Series (YES), formally referred to as Disney Institute Programs, provides learning experiences to kids children elementary to high school, with the famed Disney resorts as a backdrop.
  1. Leadership and Careers

    • Five programs show middle and high school students the ropes of the workplace. Study exciting careers with animals at Epcot or Animal Kingdom at Walt Disney World, or explore skills and talents that can be put to use in a variety of career paths while visiting Hollywood Studios. In Florida or California, a leadership course gives you an inside look at what it takes to run a company like Disney.

    Arts and Humanities

    • Study cultures from across the globe in Disney YES programs.

Music, visual arts and history are some of the offerings within Disney's YES programs in arts and humanities. See what goes into producing Cirque du Soleil's La Nouba or travel through Disney World with the eyes of a photographer. Study Californian or American history, or the world cultures of Epcot. Immerse yourself in improv; and, of course no Disney arts program would be complete without a study of Disney animation.

    Physical Sciences

    • Explore ride technology and other scientific topics at Walt Disney World and Disneyland.

In a setting full of mechanical rides and innovative technology, Disney's physical sciences programs allow kids to explore physics, chemistry and more. Many of these programs take place within the context of actual rides and attractions at both Disneyland and Walt Disney World. Tackle concepts like motion, light, sound and the connection between science and entertainment as brought to life in Disney attractions.

    Natural Sciences

    • Disney offers courses in wildlife conservation to kids who visit the theme parks.

Wildlife-based programs at Walt Disney World take kids behind the scenes of some of their favorite attractions while emphasizing conservation. Study what goes into caring for the aquatic life at the Seas with Nemo and Friends. Or, choose from two programs at Animal Kingdom, where you can study the behavior of exotic creatures from Africa and Asia.

    Ticket Add-On

    • Once the learning's done, kids in the YES program can continue to explore Disney parks with specially priced tickets. Savings are as much as 40% to 50% off regular prices and include the cost of the YES program. Your group needs to have 10 people or more to qualify.

    To Register

    • Go to the program website at DisneyWorldYES.com and choose a program for your group up to one year before the offered dates. Submit a program request form and a ticket order form online or fax it in. You'll hear back from a Disney Youth Travel Planner to finalize arrangements.

    Individual Enrollment

    • For parents who homeschool their kids or simply want to make the family vacation more educational, YES offers slots to kids for individual enrollment. These seminars are offered on certain dates and times. Check the YES website for more information and dates.
