Can a 17 year old get GED in Tennessee?

In the State of Tennessee, to be eligible for the General Educational Development (GED) test, candidates must meet the following requirements:

Age: Applicants must be at least 18 years old or older. However, there are exceptions for 17-year-olds who meet specific criteria.

High School Attendance: Candidates must have officially withdrawn from high school and must not be currently enrolled in any public, private, or home school.

Permission: If you are under 18 years of age, you will need to obtain written permission from a parent or legal guardian to take the GED test.

Therefore, generally speaking, a 17-year-old cannot obtain a GED in Tennessee unless they meet the specific exceptions.
