Create a grade scale for the cloze procedure test. One way of doing this is to assign a number to each blank in the passage. For example, if students must fill in words for ten blanks, each blank would be numbered one through ten. Then, if a student correctly completes nine out of ten blanks, he or she would receive a score of ninety percent which is usually an A. Another way of doing this is to assign a point value to each blank with more points awarded for more difficult vocabulary words.
