How to Make a Classroom Desk Privacy Fence

Although schools set expectations for academic honesty by setting ground rules for taking tests, sometimes students are still tempted to cheat. A classroom desk privacy fence or partition can help decrease that temptation. Teachers can have students create their own desk privacy fences using manila folders and tape.

Instructions

    • 1

Hand out two manila folders to each student.

    • 2

Have students place the folders flat on their desks with the folded edges facing the edges of the desk.

    • 3

Ask students to open each folder and slide the tab ends together until they overlap.

    • 4

Pass out tape and have students tape the tab edges together. Then have students turn the folders over and tape the overlapped edges together on the opposite side.

    • 5

Show students how to stand up the desk privacy fence, using the right angles of the two folders to provide support, to protect their papers when taking a test.
