God Loves Me Preschool Craft

One of the central tenants of most major religions is the love God has for his people. This message can be passed down to children, assuring them that God has a special place for each one of them in his heart. Help give children the message with a few Sunday school crafts.
  1. Angels

    • Angels can be seen as a symbol that God loves each person. Some people think that each person is even assigned a guardian angel to watch and protect them. Help give each child a sense of security by making angels with them. Give each child two half circles and one full circle. Show the children how to fold one of the half circles back on itself and glue it together to make the body of the angel. Glue the other half circle to the back of the angel for wings and the circle to the top of the folded over half circle for a face.

    Things I'm Thankful For

    • Ask children to draw or sculpt (with polymer clay or play dough) things that they are thankful for, which in turn show how much God has blessed them. The children can include material things like a dog or a nice house or immaterial things like the love of their family. Place drawings inside a frame for the children or put sculptures in the oven until they harden.

    My Gifts

    • Each child should be aware that people are born with unique gifts and talents. Ask each child to make a list of the things she is good at, either by writing the names of the things out or drawing pictures of them. Have each child explain to the rest of the class what her gifts are. Explain to the children that these special gifts are given to each person and prove God's love for them.

    Me Ornament

    • Each child should be taught that God loves her just the way she is. For this craft, take a picture of the child and print each picture off. Cut a small portion of a Styrofoam ball so that there is a flat portion big enough to place the picture. Cover the Styrofoam ball with aluminum foil or glue fabric on it. Have each child glue his picture on the front and then embellish the ornament with glitter, colored glue or other craft supplies. Cut a piece of ribbon and glue it on top of the ornament to make a way to hang it onto a tree or anywhere in the house.
