How to Make a Welcoming Brochure for School Kids

It's the job of teachers, guidance counselors and school administrators to make new students feel welcome and ease their transition into a new school. New students need to be informed about school policies, organizations, clubs and schedules. A brochure is an excellent way to provide students with a brief overview of the school's information without overwhelming them. A welcome brochure should be concise, eye-catching and easy to read.

Instructions

    • 1

Open the Microsoft Word program on your computer.

    • 2

Click the word file on the top toolbar to get the drop-down menu. Click on "New."

    • 3

Select the brochure template by clicking on the icon labeled "Brochures."

    • 4

Click on the brochure style of your choice by clicking on the preferred icon. Some versions of Word have only one style, while others have a variety of layouts to choose from.

    • 5

Use your mouse to highlight the informational text already in the layout and replace it with your own text. Include information such as a list of clubs and organizations, a student bell and lunch schedule, the school address, and phone numbers and names of administrators, guidance counselors and the school nurse.

    • 6

Copy and paste pictures into your brochure by right clicking on a desired image and selecting "Copy," then right clicking on the spot in the brochure where you want your picture to appear and selecting "Paste." Include pictures such as a school map, the school mascot and images of student life around the school.
