Start by creating lesson plans that revolve around different cultures of students in your classroom. To do this, hand each student a form which asks them what they do on vacation, what they eat for a typical dinner meal and how they spend their free time with their families.
Send correspondence home with students, asking parents to visit the school and speak to the class about their background, occupations and lifestyles. This could be a questionnaire asking about different aspects of their culture and whether they would be interested in attending class. This gives the parents a chance to visit the classroom and discuss what a typical day is like for them.
Plan a cultural event that involves the parents' and students' backgrounds. These include meals provided by parents that relates to their culture, photographs from their homeland or that of their ancestors and field trips to local art studios, museums and other attractions where parents are invited.
Plan parent-teacher meetings to ask parents for ideas and suggestions on how they would like their own culture introduced in the classroom. You may find many parents would like further involvement in their child's class.
