How to Draw a Cursive T

Everyone has their own form of handwriting, some legible and some may even be illegible. Cursive handwriting is different from manuscript or print writing because with cursive, all the letters are designed to flow together. Each letter in cursive connects so that when you are writing words, your pen never has to lift off the paper. However, some cursive capital letters like the capital "T" do not connect with the rest of the cursive letters in a word.

Instructions

  1. Lower Case

    • 1

Start at the bottom line of your paper. When writing cursive, everything will slant slightly to the right.

    • 2

Begin with a slightly curved line, resembling a very flat "J" shape. Take the top of the "J" about three-quarters of the way up from the bottom line.

    • 3

Trace over the straight part of your line and mirror the line you just drew with a backwards, more defined "J" shape. Have the tail of the "J" shape end about one-quarter of the way above the bottom line.

    • 4

Draw a short line horizontally across your "t," slightly below the top of the shape so it intersects the line.

    Upper Case

    • 5

Start slightly below the top line of your paper.

    • 6

Create a small tear drop-shaped loop by starting near the top of the line and curving it from the right to the left, Close the loop by creating a horizontal tail that curves up against the top line, going to the right, curving it slightly down and back up, ending it at the top line.

    • 7

Draw a second line coming from the middle of the top of horizontal tail. Bring this line down to the bottom line of your paper and curve it up, to the left into a "J" shape.

    • 8

Take the end of this "J" shape and continue it inwards, toward the "T" with a slight curve, creating a point at the end of the "J" shape. The continuing line from the "J" shape should go about one third of the way towards the "T" shape.
