Take a pencil and sketch a circle the size you want your deer head. Next take an eraser and draw an off-center oval that extends slightly inside the circle. The bulk of the oval should jut out. If you like the size of your eraser oval, sketch over it. If not, adjust the size until you are happy with it before sketching over the eraser flakes.
Use the eraser to make two ovals for the ears at the top of the circle. One oval should be to the upper right side of the head and the other should be toward the upper left side of the head. Use the pencil to sketch over the eraser flakes when you are satisfied with the ear size.
Sketch a line from the sides of the bottom oval to the circle to create the deer's face. Then shape the upper ovals so they look leaf like. The deer's ears should be slightly pointed.
Draw two 3-inch lines between the two ears leaving space on either side toward the ears. Then draw a slightly curved longer line that extends toward one ear on either side of the shorter line. Add three of four lines that curve inward near the top of each antler. The antler lines should almost look like stacked fingers. If the deer head is big enough, you can spread your fingers so the thumbs face toward the deer's inner head and trace them at the top of the antlers.
Make a line sectioning off the tip of the nose. then draw eyes off to either side. An eye should be toward each ear, but spaced so they are not immediately under the ears.
Outline the deer with brown marker. Use brown marker to color the eyes so they stand out. Color the rest of the deer with a brown pastel.
