Instructions to Find the Mean on a Casio Graphing Calculator

Casio's series of graphing calculators can handle complex functions such as creating tables, organizing statistics and solving trigonometry and calculus problems. Casio graphing calculators are also capable of simpler tasks, like finding the mean of a series of numbers. The mean of a list of numbers is its average, or the sum of the numbers divided by how many numbers there are. Even if you have a long list of numbers, you can use the Casio calculator to find the mean.

Instructions

    • 1

Slide the cover off of the Casio graphing calculator to reveal the keypad. Press the "AC/ON" button, on the right side of the calculator, to turn it on.

    • 2

Press the "STAT" key to go to the statistical data lists screen. Use the numeric keypad to enter the first number in your list. Press "EXE" to enter the number in the list. The cursor moves to the next line.

    • 3

Enter the remaining numbers in the list, pressing "EXE" after each to go to the next line. If you want to input a second list of numbers, press the right arrow key to move to the next list.

    • 4

Press the "F1 (1 VAR)" key to see a list of data corresponding to the numbers you entered. The first number in the list, displayed next to a small "x" with a line above it, is the mean. On some Casio calculators, you can also press "OPTN" and "F1," then select "Mean" from the list of options shown.
