A line segment is the portion of a line that runs between two specific end points. The line segment includes all possible points that lie between the two end points. Naming a line segment is necessary if you are distinguishing a certain line segment for the purposes of measuring, comparison or analysis. You may have to name a line segment as part of a geometry course in school.
