How to Calculate the Area of a Slanted Rectangle

Area is how much surface an object covers. There is no special trick to calculating the area of a slanted rectangle. You will go about the calculation the same as you would a normal rectangle. Just because the rectangle is slanted, does not mean it changes how much space the rectangle will cover. Therefore, you will need to use the basic rectangle area formula of length times height.

Instructions

    • 1

Measure the non-slanted side of the rectangle. For example, assume the side measures 5 feet.

    • 2

Measure the slanted side of the rectangle. In the example, assume the side measures 3 feet.

    • 3

Multiply the two sides together to calculate the area. In the example, 5 feet times 3 feet equals 15 feet squared.
