How to Dispose of Polyacrylate

Sodium polyacrylate is a white, powdery polymer gel that absorbs liquids. Its absorptive properties are so great that it can absorb liquids many times its size. Diaper companies use sodium polyacrylate in their products to help infants stay dry when an accident occurs. Proper disposal of sodium polyacrylate is important. While the chemical is non-toxic, it can still irritate your eyes and your airways. Therefore, a user must take precautions and avoid putting the chemical down the sink.
