What are the five basic needs?

There's no single universally agreed-upon list of "five basic needs," as different frameworks prioritize different aspects. However, a common and widely accepted grouping focuses on these five:

1. Food: The need for nourishment to sustain life and energy.

2. Water: Essential for bodily functions and survival.

3. Shelter: Protection from the elements (heat, cold, rain, etc.) and a safe place to live.

4. Sleep: Necessary for physical and mental restoration.

5. Clothing: Protection from the elements and for warmth.

It's important to note that other needs, such as safety, security, belonging, and self-esteem, are often considered crucial for well-being, and some frameworks include them as basic needs. The "five basic needs" are often a simplified representation of the essentials for physical survival.
