How did usc get its name?

The University of Southern California (USC) got its name from its location in Los Angeles, California. When it was founded in 1880, it was one of the few universities in the western United States. To reflect its regional focus, the university chose the name "University of Southern California."

Over time, USC has become one of the most prestigious universities in the country, with a strong reputation in academics, research, and athletics. However, the name "University of Southern California" has been retained, as it is a recognizable and well-established brand.
