The first writer of a Bengali grammar book was Ram Ram Bose, who published "Bāngālā Bhasha o Chhandas" in 1848.
While there were attempts at compiling Bengali grammar before, Ram Ram Bose's work is considered the first comprehensive and systematic grammar book. It laid the foundation for future development of Bengali grammar studies.
