What age do children in Malawi start school?

In Malawi, the official age to begin primary education is 6 years old. Typically when a child reaches 6 years old they are allowed to start Grade 1 of the country's primary education system. However parents can also register children for lower grades earlier if the child has already exhibited basic literacy skills and knowledge.
