List of Different Classroom Jobs

Classroom jobs teach students about responsibility and give them a sense of belonging to the class. Each job contributes to the classroom environment. Students feel important and jobs make a teacher's job easier since she doesn't have to focus on the smaller things and can focus on grading papers, creating lesson plans and observing students activity.
  1. Board Eraser

    • The board eraser erases the blackboard at the close of each day. This student can also be responsible for cleaning the board before and after lunch or recess, depending on the teacher's preference. You can assign this task for regular blackboards and dry erase boards.

    Paper Distributor

    • The paper distributor passes out papers to the class when needed. This student could distribute homework assignments or handouts to go over in class. Teachers might want to hand out graded papers themselves to ensure students' privacy.

    Librarian

    • The librarian tidies up the bookshelf at the end of the day, ensuring that the books are collected from the classroom and placed in their appropriate place. He can also organize the books that are already on the bookshelf, ensuring that they are all facing outward and organized by subject or alphabetically.

    Floor Monitor

    • A floor monitor walks around the classroom at the end of the day and looks under desks, tables and in the walkways and picks up anything that has fallen, such as papers, pencils, erasers or other materials, to help the school cleaning staff.

    Messenger

    • The class messenger delivers any necessary paperwork to the appropriate place, such as the attendance list at the beginning of the day or notes to the health office or main office.

    Coat Monitor

    • A coat monitor checks to ensure that everyone hangs their coats up in their cubbies or lockers at the beginning of the day and doesn't forget anything in their cubby at the end of the day, such as a hat or gloves.
