Choose one person to be the rescuer. Everyone else is a frozen statue. The rescuer counts to ten, meanwhile all the statues find a place in the room to freeze in any pose they want, as long as their eyes are open and their face is uncovered. The rescuer has to try to unfreeze the statues by making them move, smile, or laugh. The rescuer cannot touch the statues or talk to them. If any of the statues move, they become a rescuer as well. An alternative is that once the rescuer wakes up a statue, the rescuer becomes a statue and the statue becomes the rescuer.
This game is best played in a gym or a well-defined outdoor space. All the children are buffaloes. The leader is the Chief Buffalo. When the Chief lies down to sleep, all the other buffaloes have to sleep too. If anyone moves or talks while the Chief is sleeping, they are eliminated and can help the leaders watch for other people moving. When the Chief wakes up to run around, all the other buffaloes can wake up as well.
Divide the children into two or more teams. In their teams they should sit in a line, all facing the same direction. The person at the front of the line has a paper and pencil or chalk for the chalkboard. Show the person at the back of a line a simple drawing. He has to draw the picture on the back of the person in front of him with a finger. Then that person passes the picture to the next person in line, and so on until it reaches the person in front. They are not allowed to talk or ask questions. If you want you can let them draw it twice. The person at the front of the line draws what he felt on the piece of paper or chalkboard. The team whose final picture is closest the original picture gets the point. Send the person in front to the back of the line and play again to a set number of points to determine the winner.
Choose one person to be the target. Give that person a handkerchief or two, which he can hide anywhere on his body (but it has to be visible). The target stands on one side of the room wearing a blindfold. Everyone else starts on the other side of the room. Their goal is to get the handkerchief from the target without being caught. Put some obstacles around the room that the players have to go over, under, or around. Signal the start of the game by flashing the lights once. Players try to sneak up on the target to get the handkerchief. If the target hears someone moving, he points to them. Whoever is pointed at has to start again.
