Review the "How to Teach Spelling" manual to familiarize yourself with the program's purpose and format. Once you understand how each lesson will be set up, preparation for individual lessons is relatively easy.
Follow each lesson, in order, as the lessons build on each other. Later lessons will refer to concepts taught in earlier lessons.
While delivering and preparing for lessons, keep in mind that you will have to differentiate instruction for every student, as the "How to Spell" program is based on the Orton-Gillingham approach to reading, which uses phonetics and stresses visual, auditory and kinesthetic learning styles. Students learn by seeing, listening, speaking and writing.
