"Fun with a purpose" is the motto of Highlights for Children, Inc, which has published the original Highlights magazine for more than 60 years. This new magazine geared at children ages 2 to 6 contains stories, poetry, puzzles, crafts and pre-reading activities in each 40-page monthly issue.
Inspiring lifelong readers is the goal of the Cricket Magazine group, and Ladybug is its preschool magazine for children ages 3 to 6. This magazine focuses primarily on inspiring a love of reading through stories, poetry, read-long rebus stories and songs with artistic illustrations. Each 40-page issue begins with a story about best friends Max and Kate and ends with a comic book-style story about Molly and her adventurous cat, Emmett.
Click Magazine, also by the Cricket magazine group, focuses on introducing science concepts to young learners, ages 3 to 6. It explains how the world works by introducing kids to animals, art, nature and the environment with stories, contests, projects, and vivid pictures and illustrations.
This magazine inspires preschoolers to become explorers with features about different cultures around the world, animal stories, simple interactive experiments, puzzles, games and photographs. Each 24-page issue is designed to stimulate curiosity about the unknown and inspire kids ages 3 to 6 to read. A companion website offers fun facts and pictures, coloring pages, video links, activities, puzzles and parent information.
This nature magazine created by the National Wildlife Federation for children ages 4 to 7 introduces wildlife in ways that are meant to encourage young children to care for the natural world. Large, captivating photographs, captions and articles show where and how different plants and animals live. Crafts, games, puzzles, poetry and fiction engage young readers, while reinforcing the information covered in the articles. A companion website offers additional crafts and activities.
