Dolphin Crafts for Preschoolers

Crafts are an exciting way to keep preschoolers occupied while also stimulating their imaginations and allowing them to be creative. Crafts can also be an excellent opportunity for preschoolers to learn. Dolphin crafts and activities can be used to teach preschoolers about these mammals while giving them the chance to make memorable keepsakes they can continue to enjoy.
  1. DIY Jigsaw Puzzle

    • One craft you can create with your preschooler is a homemade dolphin jigsaw puzzle he can play with over and over. Search the Internet for printable dolphin coloring pages and select some for your preschooler to choose from. Once your child has selected a favorite, let him color it in. Meanwhile, cut out a piece of cardboard that matches the size of the coloring page. Help your preschooler glue the page to the cardboard with a glue stick, and then you can cut the cardboard piece into a jigsaw puzzle.

    Mobile

    • Preschoolers can also create a dolphin mobile that they can hang in their bedrooms. This craft also begins with coloring pages printed from the Internet. Once your preschooler has colored in all of her favorite dolphin coloring pages, give her safety scissors and let her cut them out. Glue the shapes onto pieces of card stock. These cutouts can then be attached to strings and hung from a plastic hoop that can be purchased from your local craft store.

    Masks

    • Let your preschooler draw his own dolphin face on a white paper plate or print a template from the Internet and let him color it in. Have him use safety scissors to cut triangles from another paper plate for the fins and attach them to the dolphin face plate with a glue stick. Poke a hole on each side of the mask and tie strings to the end. Your preschooler can then wear the mask while engaging in exciting under-the-sea games.

    The Letter "D"

    • Preschooler crafts about dolphins are also the perfect opportunity for children to learn about the alphabet, or in this case, the letter "D." Begin by showing your preschooler pictures of dolphins as well as the word "dolphin" so she can see that it starts with the letter "D." After discussing the letter, give your preschooler safety scissors, a glue stick, poster board and a stack of old magazines and ask her to find pictures of other animals that also begin with the letter "D." These cutouts can be made into a collage.
