Decide what day or days of the week you would like to add art education to your current home-school schedule. Depending on your schedule, one day a week may be enough. If you really want to encourage an attitude of creativity for your home-school program, consider having art more than once a week
Select art projects related to your current topic of study. This is a very easy way to add art to your current curriculum without losing track of, and becoming distracted from, what you are studying. For instance, a science study of reptiles may include finger paintings of frogs, or a literature class around the book "The Velveteen Rabbit" may include rabbit crafts. Some websites for art project ideas are donnayoung.org, artprojectsforkids.org and dltk-kids.com. For complete art curricula, check out Atelier Art Class, How great Thou Art or Enchanted Learning.com
Gather all the art supplies you will need and spend only the amount of time reasonable for your child's age. A 5-year-old may focus his attention on an art project for about 15 minutes, whereas a teenager may spend 45 minutes on an art project without a problem.
Evaluate your child's progress after a few weeks of art education. Tweak the art curriculum as needed to suit your child's needs.
