How to Make an Elementary Writing Tablet

Elementary school students need many writing tablets over the course of their young education. Unlike wide- or college-ruled notebooks and paper, which are widely available, elementary writing tablets are harder to find. But you can make your own at home with just a few simple things around the house--and you will have an endless supply of elementary writing tablets for your child.

Things You'll Need

  • 8½-by-11-inch piece of cardboard
  • Stapler
  • Writing paper template (see "Additional Resources")
  • Computer with printer
  • 8½-by-11-inch white printer paper

Instructions

    • 1

Go to the link in "Additional Resources," below, and either click on the "Print" button in the page on the upper left corner or right click on the template and select "Print."

    • 2

Choose the number of pages you want to print in the print setup window that appears. If you want the tablet to have 10 pages, make 10 copies.

    • 3

Click on "Print" to print the pages of your writing tablet.

    • 4

Wait for about five minutes to allow the ink to dry on the pages (if you are using an ink jet printer). Skip this step if you use a laser printer.

    • 5

Stack the pages all in the same direction, on top of one another.

    • 6

Place the stack of pages on top of the cardboard, and place three staples along one of the 11-inch edges to attach the pages to the cardboard.
