Texas Homeschool Resources

According to data from the United States Census Bureau, in 2009 there were approximately 100,000 homeschooled students in the state of Texas. Unlike many other states, Texas law does not require homeschoolers to have an approved curriculum, undergo standardized testing or make any notifications or reports to authorities. However, there are many programs, events and group resources available to Texan homeschoolers to improve the quality of education, give legal advice and allow opportunities for socialization.
  1. The Family Educators Alliance of South Texas

FEAST provides legal information for homeschoolers and information about local support groups, gives homeschooled students opportunities for apprenticeships, provides sports programs and hosts seminars and workshops. FEAST also has a yearly book fair and a summer reading program.

The Texas Home School Coalition opposes government restrictions and regulations on homeschooling, and works to promote a greater understanding and acceptance of homeschooling. The coalition provides legal information and advice to its members and works with school officials to educate them on homeschooling law.
