Find a New Education Plan: Before homeschooling ends completely, devise a new education plan. Find a school that meets you and your child's needs. If the public school system doesn't fit in with your education plans, consider a private or charter school. Conduct a family meeting to discuss these plans and decisions, and then meet with the chosen school.
Prepare for Transition: Find out if the school offers an assessment test to determine if your child is behind or caught up with the rest of his classmates. Ask the school if your child can sit in on a few classes before his first official day of school to help him adjust.
Stay involved: Just because you're not teaching your child his academics daily anymore, that doesn't mean you're not an active teacher in his life. Ask him to discuss what he learned during the day and his social interactions. Help him with his homework and encourage him to participate in extracurricular activities.
