How to Cite an Online Journal, APA Style

The American Psychological Association (APA) publishes rules and guidelines meant to ensure consistency, clarity, structure and organization in research papers. Most writers know APA style for its extensive conventions pertaining to the citation of sources you use in your written work. As the Purdue University Online Writing Lab (OWL) notes, APA altered the way it handles the documentation of electronic sources, including online journals, in 2007. In essence, you handle online periodicals as you do the print version, adding any additional information provided by the online host.
