Outline your professional goals to show your goals for the next year, the next five years and the next 10 years. Write a goal per paragraph.
Write the first draft of the essay. The essay must have an introductory paragraph, three to five body paragraphs and a conclusion. Each paragraph must have at least five to seven sentences. In the draft version, it is better to write more and cut back rather than writing less and having to add sentences in the final draft.
Craft the tone of the essay. The tone should reflect confidence, but not arrogance. Think of the tone used with customers or at meetings. That should be the voice of the essay, so aim to be professional and warm. Keep in mind who will be your audience.
Review the draft. Run a spell-check and grammar check on the essay and print it.
Read the essay out loud to check for flow and tone. Fix any last-minute corrections.
Send your essay to a colleague, friend or family member to review, if possible. Revise the essay based on the comments that you receive in response. Print the final version of the essay.
