Begin the works-cited entry with the name of the site. Give the complete name of the website and either underline or italicize the information. Both methods are acceptable in MLA style. Ask your instructor which one is preferred for your paper.
List the name of the site’s editor. Give the editor’s name, first name and then the last name. Put the abbreviation “Ed.” before the name and a period after the last name. If no editor's name is listed, proceed to the next step.
Include any version information and the date of electronic publication. If you find any indication of a version number for the website, include that. If none is given, continue and list the date of electronic publication or the date of the latest website update. In MLA style, a date appears in form of the date, the abbreviation of the month, and then the year: 25 Nov. 1995. Place a period after the version number and the date.
Insert the name the organization. Give the title of the site’s sponsoring organization. Even if the organization is commonly known by its acronym, write out the official name, placing a period at the end.
Give the date you accessed the site and the URL. Provide the complete date on which you accessed the website for information. Put the date in the format given in step three. Follow that with the URL for the organization’s website. End the works cited entry with a period.
Create an in-text citation. Because your works cited entry begins with the name of the website, include that in your text. With this, a reader will be able to match the research information to the works cited page. Also, include the name of the sponsoring organization if it is not contained in the name of the site.
