How to Cite a Commencement Speech

In some instances, students and researchers may wish to cite nontraditional sources such as speeches. Because a speech is often not a published text, the usual information required in a citation such as publishing company, date of publication and page numbers does not apply. Instead, both the APA (American Psychological Association) and MLA (Modern Language Association) style guides require information to be provided regarding the delivery of the speech.
