Close all doors and windows and open all cabinets in areas that you think might be affected.
Protect your food by covering or removing it. Do the same with any articles that touch your food, such as dishes, utensils, coffee makers or mixers. Also cover any wax floors or electronic equipment in the immediate vicinity of the fogger.
Turn off the air conditioner or heater. Leaving them on could generate a spark that would ignite the fogger fumes.
Place a chair or other raised item in the center of your apartment and cover it with newspaper or paper towels. Place the fogger on the chair.
Make sure everyone else is out of the apartment, including pets. Set off the fogger by pressing the trigger, keeping the nozzle pointed away from your face. Leave as quickly as possible after setting it off.
Give the fogger enough time to do its job before re-entering your apartment. It typically requires about four hours to be completely effective.
Return to your apartment and open a few windows. Leave for another 30 minutes to let the apartment air out before returning again.
