How to Do a Speech on APA

American Psychological Association (APA) style is a set of rules and regulations for writing and submitting publications. APA style has become a commonly used set of rules for writing research and term papers, especially in the realm of the sciences. It is important to follow the rules of APA style meticulously. Citing a speech in APA style is not difficult, though it does require that you follow a very specific format.

Instructions

    • 1

Determine the name(s) of the speaker(s).

    • 2

Note the month and year of the speech. If you are unable to determine the month, the year will be sufficient.

    • 3

Note the title of the speech, if any.

    • 4

If available, note the specific location of the speech, as well as the city and state of the location of the speech. For example: "Speech presented at MIT, Cambridge, MA." If you cannot find this information, that is alright. Your citation will not be any less reputable for not having the location of the speech.

    • 5

Put all of the information you have gathered together into a single citation. The basic format for an APA style speech citation is such:

Name of speaker. (Year, Month). Title of speech (in italics). Speech presented at location of speech, City, State.
