Indiana Helicopter Flight Schools

Training for a private helicopter pilot's license can be more expensive than that for an airplane, but helicopter schools claim the job opportunities and the fun more than make up for the cost. The FAA requires at least 40 hours of flight time, including 20 hours with an instructor and 10 solo. Pilots must be at least 17 years old and pass a written test. Several schools around Indiana offer training, flights and helicopter rental.
  1. Flying W Aviation

    • Owner Clark Wendt started out flying airplanes, but grew to love helicopter flight during some time spent in Florida. In 2005, he returned to Indiana and decided to offer the same quality of instruction he received. The school operates out of Hangar 20 at the Wabash Municipal Airport, and has two-seater and four-seater helicopters. Flying W Aviation also offers aerial photography for real estate or other businesses, sightseeing and private hire services.
