How to Audit Internal Training Courses

Internal training is a cornerstone of every business. Whether your company has a long, detailed training program or a simple tour of the office and walkthrough of some software, most new employees face some sort of orientation and training class. Internal training needs to be effective, engaging, and appropriate to the task at hand. You can get an idea of how your training courses are going by stepping into one for an audit.

Instructions

    • 1

Sit in the back of the classroom where you will create a minimum amount of distraction for the trainer.

    • 2

Take careful notes regarding the performance of the trainer. Measure the trainer's speaking speed, comfort in front of a group, and how easy he is to follow.

    • 3

Make a note of any areas of the class that seem unclear or rushed. Students should leave internal training courses with a new skill or broader knowledge.

    • 4

Participate in all class activities. Engaging in the group classroom activities gives you hands-on experience and subjects you to the experiences of trainees.

    • 5

Sit down with your training staff to talk about classroom shortcomings and how they may be improved.
