Consult your school guidance counselor about what career or subject that you would like to study or if you have a preference for a particular university. The guidance counselor can look at your transcript and help you determine if you might be successful in applying for these courses and getting accepted into the subject or program at university. Some disciplines also require completion of certain courses, which the guidance counselor can assist with. For example, some premedical programs may require certain science subjects in order to get accepted into preliminary medical courses.
The guidance counselor will help you use your transcript to figure out which schools you would likely be accepted to. If you have the core subjects completed on your transcript and high grades or grade point average for these subjects, it will increase your chances of getting into that school. Ivy League schools such as Harvard have a very high GPA minimum requirement, so you have to be realistic about your odds when auditing your transcript.
Obtain brochures and go online to find out about the admissions process for your preferred universities. Many universities will display their admissions criteria on their websites. Compare your transcript to make sure that you have all the necessary courses and meet the expectations of the university before applying. Make sure you have the average score or GPA requirements specified on the website. If you are required to complete certain English, Math or Science courses, make sure that they are completed on your transcript.
