How to Get a Military Recruiter to Come to Your School

Military recruitment in schools is perhaps one of the most effective ways military branches get new soldiers to join. Many students, especially in high schools, aren't sure what they want to do after they graduate, so a place in the military may be a good fit for some. While a somewhat controversial subject, the majority of schools are required by law to allow military recruiters on school property. Due to the consistent need for new soldiers, military recruiters are typically happy to come to schools.

Instructions

    • 1

Check with the superintendent or dean of the school to ensure it allows recruiters on school property. As long as the school allows people to come in and advise students on occupational or educational opportunities, they are required to allow military recruiters to come in. Some schools, however, do not allow recruiters of any kind.

    • 2

Determine which branch of military you want to come to the school, whether it be the Army, Marines, Navy or Air Force. As long as space is available, you can opt to choose all branches of the military to recruit at the school.

    • 3

Visit the websites of the desired military branches for recruitment information. See the Resources section of this article for links to the recruiter pages for each military branch. Fill out any contact information on the page to find the nearest recruitment office in the area.

    • 4

Contact the recruitment office once you get the information. Explain that you want recruiters to come and set up a booth at your school. Call the office, rather than email, as it tends to be easier to explain the situation and get immediate feedback on when recruiters can be sent to the school.
