How to Find a Forestry Teacher

The forestry industry offers a wide-range of specialties, from park rangers who work for the state and federal governments to procurement-based foresters who are more familiar with forestry-industry products, such as trees and paper. Finding a forestry teacher for a full-time staff position or a one-time special presentation requires a search on the local and state levels.

Instructions

    • 1

Determine the kind of forester and specialty you are interested in. Choose from park rangers, procurement foresters, urban foresters, consulting foresters and land management foresters.

    • 2

Contact your state's Labor, Licensing and Regulation Department. Request the database of registered and licensed foresters to generate a list of possible forestry teachers.

    • 3

Contact your state Forestry Commission. Request a list for each in-state district of consulting foresters and timber buyers.

    • 4

Call your local agricultural college to inquire about students graduating with degrees in forestry and current graduate students that may qualify to teach full-time or give a one-time lecture.
