CSI Reliability Training

Crime scene investigators analyze evidence from the scene of a crime and prepare reports documenting that analysis. Their analysis, results and reporting must be extremely reliable in order to hold up in a court of law. Therefore, CSIs participate in training courses to help ensure reliability and strengthen their skills.
  1. U.S. Department of Justice

    • The DOJ provides reference materials for law enforcement trainers and administrators to use in ensuring in crime scene investigation reliability. Training information covers arriving at the scene, contamination control, preliminary documentation, handling evidence and processing the scene.

    National Crime Investigation and Training

    • NCIT offers courses throughout the United States. Classes include Crime Scene Reconstruction, Logistics and Bloodshed Interpretation. Training helps ensure results that are more reliable and reporting that will hold up in court.

    Colleges and Universities

    • Numerous colleges and universities offer continuing education training courses to ensure CSI reliability. Participants may choose from online formats or traditional classroom instruction. Educational institutions offer certificate- and degree-granting programs.
