Help for Families With Troubled Teens in Illinois

Parents of troubled teens often face difficult choices. It may be hard for them to know where to turn. In Illinois, there are community organizations, associations and clubs that have volunteers ready to come to the aid of families with troubled teens. Parents only need to reach out and ask for help.
  1. Family Counseling Center

    • The Family Counseling Center (FCC) has offices in multiple counties such as Johnson, Pope and Hardin, in addition to facilities in Elizabethtown, Golconda and Vienna, Illinois. FCC provides individual and family counseling assessment, crisis intervention, youth education and work outreach. It also offers youth residential services at its Heritage, Hilltop and Ohio River houses. In addition to substance abuse, psychosocial rehabilitation and development training programs, FCC offers outpatient, vocational and home-based support for families with troubled teens.

    Southeastern Illinois Counseling Centers

    • Southeastern Illinois Counseling Centers (SEICC) has 10 locations throughout the state of Illinois, including Olney, Robinson, Fairfield and Albion. Providing case management and mental health therapies and clinical services, home-based support, residential and outpatient services, SEICC also helps families with troubled teens with its Screen Assessment and Support Service (SASS). Troubled teens may also receive help from SEICC's Teen Reach program, which specializes in services for at-risk groups.

    Focus Adolescent Services

    • Focus Adolescent Services, which has locations throughout the U.S., also provides direction and help for families with troubled teens in Illinois. This includes areas such as Chicago, Aurora, Rantoul and Northfield. Focus offers substance and alcohol rehabilitation, family therapy, suicide and crisis intervention programs and services. The organization also works in partnership with youth advocacy groups such as the Allendale Association, Aunt Martha's Youth Service and Camp Algonquin to provide mentoring and mental health assistance and summer camp outreach programs.

    Hoyleton Youth and Family Services

    • Located along North Main Street in Hoyleton, Illinois, Hoyleton Youth and Family Services has additional facilities in both Edwardsville and Highland. Originally founded as an orphanage more than 100 years ago, the association offers residential and behavioral services for teens through its Community Integrated Living Arrangement (CILA) program. Licensed by the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services, Hoyleton is also accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Services for Families and Children.
