How to Have a Degree Before Enlisting in the Military

If you join the military with a college degree, you may have the option to join the Officer Corps. The Officer Corps, which differs from the enlisted side of the military, is designed to foster troops who make strategic, technical and tactical decisions. The enlisted members of the military then carry out those strategies. To become an officer at the pay grade of O1 (entry-level) in the active duty component of the military, you must first have a bachelor's degree. In the reserve components, you only need an associate's degree, but you must complete your bachelor's degree before you are permitted to enter active duty or be promoted into pay grade O3.
